Day 7 Elma, WA (Elma RV Park) to Lewis & Clark State Park, WA

Day 7 Elma, WA (Elma RV Park) to Lewis & Clark State Park, WA

Today’s miles: 57

Miles to date: 299

Days left to ride: 34

We had poor cell signal last night so this is for yesterdays ride.

Today we had another 57-mile ride. The ride was mostly flat for the first 40 miles but had several good climbs during the last 17 miles.  I rode with Scott and Mac again and other members of our group joined us on and off throughout the day.

We rode through the countryside with forest covered mountains all around us.  We rode mostly on back roads with little traffic and through small towns and farmland. We saw large, beautiful houses with nicely manicured properties.  We also saw dilapidated houses and properties almost right next to each other.

We were caught in the rain without a rain jacket.  The fist time we found shelter and waited until the rain stopped.  The next couple of times it rained there wasn’t any shelter, so we just rode through it.  Fortunately, the rain was brief, but we did get soaked.

The climbs were longer and higher than the past few days but not as steep.  Going down the other side was very fast; a couple of the downhills were as much as -16% and I had to break most of the way down.  Unfortunately, this is when we had the worst of the rain.

Tonight, we are staying in a bunk house at the Lewis & Clark State Park, WA.  The bunk house is pretty large, and all the bunks are in the same room.

Here are some photos from today’s ride:
