Day 11 Astoria, OR to Manzanita, OR (Nehalem Bay State Park)

Day 11 Astoria, OR to Manzanita, OR (Nehalem Bay State Park)

Today’s miles: 45

Miles to date: 447decents

Days left to ride: 30

Today was the best ridding day so far!!  The weather was perfect (sunny and warm), and we got our fist views of the Pacific Ocean and coastline.  We had a short 45-mile day with several large hills to climb.  The hills were long about 1 to 2.5 miles each, but they were not too steep.  The downhills were long and very fast.  We also had one not so pleasant tunnel the ride through.

We started out ridding on quiet back roads for the first 20 miles and then we rode on highway 101 for the rest of the way that had a good shoulder to ride on.  We rode through the towns of Seaside, Cannon Beach, and Manzanita (where we are staying tonight).  The views of the coastline are breathtaking, and they should only get better.

Tonight, we are camping at the Nehalem Bay State Park.

Here are some photos from todays ride:
