Day 2 Canadian border and back to Bellingham, WA (Larrabee State Park) - First day of riding
Today’s miles: 40
Miles to date: 40
Days left to ride: 39
Today was a great day for a bike ride and the fist ride of the tour. It was cool in the morning and we had a little bit of rain while we were having coffee and eating breakfast. All the bikes (12) were loaded on top of our support van and our tour leader drove use to the Canadian border. After unloading the bikes and getting the bikes ready to ride we all went down to the Peace Arch National Park where we had our group photo taken under the arch.
After the group photo we were off biking 40 miles back to Larrabee State Park. The weather was nice, but not ideal for biking do to smoke from a fire that I believe was north of us. We all started riding together but we soon broke up into 2 groups. A faster group and a slower group. I biked with the slower group and we kept a relaxing pace. Most of the ride was through back roads with some roads having little to no traffic. We road close to the ocean and we also road on some crushed gravel bike trails. The scenery was nice and will only get better in the days ahead. We stoped a little over half way for a lunch break. We got back to camp in good time. It was a great day!!
Here are a few photos from todays ride.
