Today’s miles: 41

Miles to date: 12331

Todays was short on milage with not too many climbs. The weather was sunny (with some morning fog) cool in the morning and warmed up a bit by early afternoon. The first half of the ride took on and off highway 1.  We rode on bike paths and side streets.  The 2nd half of the ride took us through a very busy Santa Cruz.  The route took us off highway 1 for the rest of the day and onto busy streets that took us around Santa Cruz.  There was a lot of turns to make and navigating was a challenge.

I was having a lot of issues with my knee all day having to walk most of the climbs.  I plan to take the next day or off from riding.

We didn’t stop all that much today so only 1 photo to post.

Today’s miles: 60

Toady was a difficult day.  It was cold with heavy fog most of the day.  We all had alate start leaving San Francisco and navigating our way out of San Francisco was a challenge.  There was a lot of turns to make and traffic was heavy.  We rode on a lot of bike paths and rode on and off highway 1 for the first 30 miles or so and then on highway 1 for the rest of the day.  We had a lot of climbs, and I was still having pain in my right knee, so I walked a lot of the climbs.  We stopped a few times for short breaks and lunch, and we got into camp late afternoon.

When I woke this morning, my knee was still very sore and painful when I bent it, so I decided to ride the 72 miles in the support van to San Francisco and let my knee recover.

We are staying at the Fisherman's Wharf Hostel.  The Hostel is large and nice we have two bunk rooms one for the men and one for the women.

We will be here for tonight and tomorrow night, a day off.

Day 25 Manchester, CA to Bodega Bay, CA

Today’s miles: 66

Miles to date: 1131

Days left to ride: 16

Today was another beautiful day for a bike ride but there was a lot of climbing that made it difficult and challenging.  The weather was a bit cooler then yesterday but comfortable for bike riding it was sunny most of the day.  We again had great views of the ocean and cost and we rode on highway 1 all day.  The road had many twists on turns ups and downs that made it both fun and challenging.  We stopped a few times for breaks, Lunch, and to take in the views.

Unfortunately, about 2 thirds into the ride my right knee started to give out and I had a lot of knee pain.  I was able to finish the ride and I plan to take tomorrow off to recover.

Tomorrow, we ride into San Francisco, and we have a day off.

We had poor cell service yesterday and I wasn't able to post. This is for yesterday.

Today was another fantastic day!!  The weather was perfect, sunny and warm but not to hot. It was another day with short milage with a lot of climbing, more like rollers, small hill after small hill after small hill with a few larger climbs mixed in. We rode along the cost on highway 1 all day with beautiful views around every corner. The traffic was fairly light but did get heavy at times and the width of the shoulder varied from very wide to no shoulder at all. We stopped a good number of times for photos and to take in the views.  We even had some nice tail wind to help us on our way.

We stopped a few times for short breaks and had lunch at a nice park in the small town of Elke. We rode through a few other small towns but there wasn’t to much in servers along our route. People have been very friendly, and we get a lot of waves as we pass by.

Tomorrow will be a longer day in miles and in climbing.
